Best Cinematography
This one is a tough on just based on those contending in the category. There are 3 that I'm stuck between on which wins. Those are Sicario, the Revenant and The Hateful Eight. All of these were particularly excellent and I'll have no difficulty accepting if one wins over another because they were all brilliantly shot films.
Best Film Editing
For best editing, I imagine that it will either be Star Wars: The Force Awakens or The Revenant. No matter how much I loved Spotlight it's editing really wasn't anything special, despite being really well put together. But if one were to win from the two, I'd bet on Star Wars, seeing as the Revenant didn't have nearly as much computerized editing as Star Wars.
Best Production Design
Would probably have to say either The Revenant or Mad Max: Fury Road. Mostly because both had very stylized and interesting looks to them which both changed the tones of the two movies, but also made them stand out as to what movie you were going to see.
Best Visual EffectsOdds are, it will be Star Wars: The Force Awakens who wins this award. Mostly because I feel like the Academy has in the past failed to acknowledge that subtlety is worth more than size and Star Wars was like 90% CGI and that will win it for them which is okay for me only because it was impressive.
