Ever since I was little, I've loved the Ghostbusters film and when the new Ghostbusters was announced, I was excited for the reuniting of one of the greatest composed casts of all time. But then I remembered the tragic death of Harold Ramis and thought, though they may lose a little chemistry, but it could still work. But then something tragic happened. 4 terrible female comedians, put in simply to please the feminist community.
Now, before you get all "don't be so sexist Jake" or "misogynistic pig", I am all for diversity in film, but put it in where it is necessary! I hate it when shows include African Americans in a primarily white place, or vice versa. And I will always say, that you should not do your casting to please the general public. Don't work to pander.
And you can tell they tried to be both, but the only issue is that there is no outlet, there is no sanity to bring it back. And all the comedians they brought in have the same sort of style a neurotic, crazy over the top comedy. In the original, you had Spendler, who was easily the craziest, Venkman who was tame but sadistic, Ray who was ignorant and Winston who was new and out of his comfort zone.
Hell, even Rick Moranis voiced his displeasure with it saying "It is hard to make new material for something like Ghostbusters" and most of those who are doing cameos are doing it out of fear of angry reviews rather than for actual faith in the series' reboot.
Nevertheless, I will still be seeing the film, I just won't enjoy it.
